It all began

with an idea

Roshni Kakaiya, DO learned how to do paracervical blocks during her residency training. As faculty at a full-spectrum family medicine residency program, she wanted to teach the residents how to perform this important procedure so it could be offered to all eligible patients. After not being able to find any analagous pelvic models that could appropriately teach paracervical blocks, she decided to use some creativity to come up with a messy but viable DIY option using silicone and dragonfruit. The workshop was a success, but she thought to herself, “there must be a better way.” After collaborating with Valentin Gazcon, an engineer with enthusiasm and technical skills, the RoVa Paracervical Block Teaching Model was born.
